Antrim LGFA Senior Football Championship

Con Magees Glenravel 2-6 St Paul’s 3-12

St Paul’s secured their place in the final of the Antrim LGFA Senior Championship when they travelled to Fr Maginn Park on Sunday evening and beat Glenravel by 3-12 to 2-6.

Two early points from county star Lara Dahunsi put the Shaw’s Road team two celar after three minutes, but the Con Magees came back to level with two pointed frees from Clodagh McPeake. St Paul’s edged ahead again with a point from Niamh Ritchie on six minutes, but once again the home team drew level when midfielder Claire Emerson pointed at the other end.

Aiofe Mervyn struck a telling blow for the Belast girls when she got the first goal of the game on ten minutes, and when Lara Dahunsi added a point to put a bit of daylight between the sides. However Clodagh McPeake grabbed a goal from a penalty for the Glenravel girls to cut the gap back to just a point after 21 minutes, but our minutes later Dahunsi got St Paul’s second goal and they went on to lead by 2-4 to 1-4 at half time.

Even though weather conditions deteriorated in the second half St Paul’s pushed on regardless and four points in a row took the game away from Glenravel. The home team did pull a goal back to bring them back into contention but Aoife Mervyn grabbed St Paul’s third goal five minutes from time to wrap up a convincing win.
