Antrim team to play Dublin in Walsh Cup

The Antrim team to play Dublin in Sunday’s Walsh cup game at Parnell Park has been named, and as you can imagine there are quite a few changes from the side that lined out against Westmeath in last season’s Leinster Championship in Mullingar.

Tiernan Smyth is in goals while his Ballycastle club mate Conor Boyd comes in at corner back, a new position for the McQuillan’s man. Dunloy’s Ryan McGarry is at full back with Paddy Burke in the left corner back position as the Ruairi Og contingent return to action following their All Ireland campaign. Two of Burke’s Cushendall team mates line out in the half back line with Scott Walsh at right half back, Eogan Campbell at centre back and Enda Og McGarry of Loughgiel Shamrocks completing the line, wearing the no. 7 shirt.

St John’s Conal Bohill and St Enda’s Niall O’Connor form a new look midfield, while Dunloy’s Eoin McFerran makes his senior debut at right half forward. Niall McKenna of Sarsfields lead the attack at centre forward with Paul Boyle of Loughgiel Shamrocks lining out on the left wing. Conal Cunning of Dunloy Cuchullains is named in the left corner with Creggan’s Conor McCann making a welcome return at full forward after a long absence through injury. Loughgiel’s Rian ‘Bubbles’ McMullan completes the line up as he wears the no. 15 shirt at top of the right

With last Sunday’s scheduled Walsh Cup game against Westmeath being cancelled just before throw-in the Saffrons go into this game short of  match practice and they face a tough task against a Dublin side who scored a big win against the Westmeath men in their section of the round robin group ten days ago.

The game gets underway at 1-30 and for those unable to make it to Dublin they can watch the live stream on clubber.ie though I would advise anyone doing so to give yourself a bit time logging in as it is not the easiest site to find you way around.
