The members and friends of All Saints GAC had Ballymena spinning on Saturday as they hosted their Annual Charity Spinathon. Organised as part of the ever popular Saints & Slimmers programme the 8 teams involved assembled across the day from 9.00am to 4.00pm to raise money for this year’s nominated good causes – Bravehearts & NI Chest, Heart & Stroke.
And while peddling for points was also the name of the game (as an overall Saints & Slimmers winning team will be announced at the Finale Night later this month) this was very much secondary to the efforts to raise vital funds for the valuable services the charities provide. The total amount raised will be revealed on the night when a presentation to the volunteers of both groups will be made.
All Saints GAC would like to thank all who contributed to the fundraising effort including the participants themselves and the generous Ballymena public.
Special thanks to the local businesses who supported the spinners with copious amounts of tea, coffee and sandwiches including Subway, Bert’s Cafe, McAtamneys Greenvale Street, Susan McKillop and Clare Caulfield. Thanks also to Andrew and Flamingo for the use of their bikes and of course our spin tutor Teresa for preparing the team members over the last few weeks and for organising the music to keep everyone going. Without both the event simply could not take place.
