Gort na Mona convincingly claimed the Fr Mullan Plate 2 after a thumping 4-10-1-03 comeback win over Lámh Dhearg at MacRory Park on Sunday afternoon.
The Hannahstown side played a strong breeze on the Whiterock Road and led through a fine Dylan Quinn point.
Quinn played a crucial part in the opening goal of the game as his shot crashed off the post and was scrambled home at the second attempt by Oran Laverty.
A further point followed from Niall Mervyn- who kicked a 45’ over the bar, with Conall Fegan hitting back for the Gorts with an 18th minute free.
Gort na Mona should have had more than their solidary point to show for their first half endeavours, but they trailed 1-03-0-01 at the interval after Dylan Quinn doubled his account in the closing stages of the half.
With the roles reversed Gort na Mona quickly cut the deficit through a Conall Fegan shot that crashed off the post and over.
He then conjured his third point of proceedings and Daire Corr swung over a fine point to reduce arrears to two (1-03-0-04).



Approaching the midway point in the second period Gort hit the front for the first time after Conall Fegan closed down an attempted clearance across the face of goal after applying enough pressure Fegan shot into the net after a defensive calamity.
A second goal arrived less than 60-seconds later, Seadhna Caldwell had a pass slipped into his path and after bearing down on goal he slotted confidently to the net to give his side a 2-04-1-03 lead.
Their goal glut continued with Caldwell turning provider as Cadhan Masterson made no mistake and left the Lámhs with a mountain to climb.
Caldwell added to points to his personal tally for the afternoon and then doubled his goal tally after Caoimhin Connolly gathered a wayward free and popped it into Caldwell’s path to fire home and make it 4-06-1-03.
Gorts dominance continued in the closing stages, and they added four further points before the conclusion.
Conall Fegan clipped over his brought his tally to 1-06 with three late scores, and Cualnn Gillen would get in on the act in-between times as their side strolled to victory in the end.
