North Antrim Cumann na mBunscol finals at Ballycastle

St Anne’s Corkey who won the Cup and St Patrick Loughgiel who won the Shield

St Anne’s Corkey retained their North Antrim Cumann na mBunscol title when they beat St Joseph’s Dunloy in a repeat of last years’ final at Pairc MacUílin Ballycastle. In a thrilling game St Jospeph’s took an early lead but St Anne’s came back to lead at half time.

A great point direct from a sideline cut stretched the Corkey lead but the Dunloy boys kept the pressure on but St Anne’s held on to win back to back titles.

It was double success for Loughgiel when St Patrick’s PS beat St John’s Carnlough in the Shield final, St Patrick’s and St Brigid’s beat St Ciaran’s Cusheundun in the Plate final, while St Patrick’s Glenariffe won the Bowl final with a win over St Patrick’s & St Brigid’s 2nds.

After the finals Antrim Hurling manager Davy Fitzgerald presented the trophies to the winning captains and medals to all the players. The Clare legend praised the standard of hurling he had just witnessed and thanked all those involved for the organisation of the event.
