Football Fixtures (Previews) Wed 14th May

The football programme league programme continues on the mid-week setting with a full list scheduled for Wednesday evening with games in all of the three divisions.

Wed 14th May

Division One (all games at 7.15 pm)

Erin’s Own Cargin v All Saint’s Ballymena

Cargin lead the chase for the Division One title at the moment having continued on the unbeaten trail last week when gaining the verdict over a St Mary’s side which made them work for the verdict up at Aghagallon.

Both the combatants were missing a few of their regulars in that one and it was a Benen Kelly goal which proved the difference as the Toome men crossed the line in front.

The Erin’s Own men will return to home base for this one as All Saint’s visit Toome and with just a single defeat to date at Creggan, All Saints will travel to meet Cargin only a couple of points in arrears of their hosts in the table.

Cargin continue to set the standards in the league however, and they should have too much for an All Saints side minus their county contingent.

Casement’s Portglenone v O’ Donovan Rossa

Casements have dropped quite a few points on their league journey to date but they have added five points from their latest three games and will look to continue their recent good form in this one as Rossa visit Kelly Park.

Hugh Mc Gettigan’s Rossa have struggled this season and the dual club without the services of their hurlers are lingering in the lower depths of the league with only one win to date.

Casement’s will start this one as firm favourites and although the Shaw’s Road men are capable of better with a full squad available, a home win is the likely conclusion.

Lamh Dhearg v St Gall’s

Lamh Dhearg have not been at their best as yet but signs of better to come were to be seen last time out when they gained a share of the points at St Brigid’s. That followed a draw away to Cuchullian’s and they will await the visit of St Gall’s hoping for another positive result.

St Gall’s have been going well this year with only one defeat thus far and they will travel to Hannahstown hoping for another win following victory over the visiting Tir na nOg last day out.

Lamh Dhearg with ground advantage will ask questions aplenty from the Milltown Blues and although current form would suggest otherwise a home win for the Hannahstown residents is possible.

Kickham’s Creggan v Con Magees Glenravel

Creggan are flying high at present and following and last week’s emphatic victory over Rossa they have really been scoring for fun in the league this term.

Con Magee’s have been in good form this term and came close to beating the visiting Cargin before recording a good victory at Aghagallon anfd then drawing with the visiting St. John’s.

The Glensmen will travel to Creggan in search of their fourth win of the season but the high scoring home side will start as firm favourites and they may well gain the verdict.

St James Aldergrove v St Brigid’s

St Brigid’s shared top spot in the table for a time but have since lost to Creggan and shared the points with the visiting Casement’s and have dropped down the table.

They travel to Crumlin to meet Aldergrove and will hope to return to winning ways against a St. James’ side who will provide a stiff test on their own sod.

The home side with five wins to date, gained victory at Dunloy last time out and they will be looking forward to the visit of reigning league champions St Brigid’s.

A close one looks possible but the city men will travel in the favourite’s role and although they will not have thing all their own way an away win is probable.

St Paul’s v Cuchullian’s Dunloy

St Paul’s have gained in stride of late but good performances have not been matched by results to date. They lost to All Saints last time out but performed well in their previous game at Toome before losing to Cargin by two points.

The Cuchullian’s have enjoyed a fair season to date and are cable of testing anyone on their day but will again be without a number of their duel players.

The Shaw’s Road side will see this as an opportunity to get some needed points on board as they welcome the Cuchullian’s to their domain and if they can maintain recent progress they may well get something from this one

St John’s v St Mary’s Aghagallon

Following a poor start to the season St John’s finally got off the mark with a home win over Rossa and followed that up with a draw away to Glenravel, last time out.

Aghagallon have mixed the good with the bad this season and lost to the visiting Cargin last time out and St Mary’s will face another difficult challenge in this one.

St John’s have shown improvement recently and if such is retained another win is probable.

Tir na nOg v St Mary’s Ahoghill

This all South West fixture sees Tir na nOg play hosts to St. Mary’s Ahoghill in what looks like being a close one with the points at stake vitally important to both the contestants.

The home side have recorded two draws to date with St Paul’s and Dunloy and they will be aiming for a first win when the Cloney men visit whitehill.

This one is certain to be fully contested and although ground advantage may prove an asset to the Whitehill men, a share of the spoils looks possible.

Division Two (all games at 7.15)

St Comgall’s Antrim v Gort na Mona

St Comgall’s have struggled for results in the second division and although they are never far away they have only one win to their credit over the visiting Davitts in the second round of competition.

The Antrim men have been playing well enough but they really need the comfort of points on the board and they may see this as an opportunity as Gort na Mona visit Dunsilly.

St Joseph’s Glenavy v St Mary’s Rasharkin

This all South West encounter sees Glenavy play hosts to the men from Rasharkin with the home side fancied to come out on top.

Glenavy sit comfortably in the table with five points from a couple of wins and a draw but the Chapel Hill residents will look for further additions to ensure safety.

St Mary’s Rasharkin are struggling in the second grade with one victory seeing them alongside St Comgall’s, too close to the relegation zone for comfort.

This one is certain to be keenly contested with ground advantage likely to aid Glenavy to secure the points.

St Enda’s v St Ergnat’s Moneyglass

St Ergnat’s Moneyglass are on course for a quick return to division 1 after suffering relegation at the end of last term and are unbeaten to date with only one point dropped away to fellow promotion hopefuls, Sarsfields.

The home side have three wins to date and need points as they look to climb the table but Moneyglass will arrive as firm favourites and they may well gain another win.

Patrick Sarsfield’s v Michael Davitt’s

Patrick Sarsfield’s are going well at the moment with five wins and a draw to date ensuring they are keeping pace with Moneyglass at the top of the division on 11 points apiece.

Davitts will travel to the Bear Pit with only one point to date and improvement is certainly a requirement if they are to get the better of the Paddies with another home win likely.

St Patrick’s Lisburn v St Teresa’s

Lisburn based St Patricks are flying at the moment with just a single defeat and sit just behind the joint leaders, Moneyglass and Sarsfield’s in third place in the division.

Naomh Padraig play hosts to St Teresas in this one with the visitors enjoying a good run at the moment and they will ask questions but the home side might well have the answers.

Division Three (all games at 7.15pm)

Cardinal O’Donnell’s v Eire Og

O’ Donnell’s sit in a mid-table position, four points behind the table topping St. Agnes and they will look to reduce the deficit as soon as possible and they should gain another couple of points from the visit of Eire Og.

St Agnes v Patrick Pearses

St Agnes are unbeaten in their five games to date and reside at the top of the table on maximum points and they look likely to add another couple of points as Pearses visit Cherryvale.

Kickham’s Ardoyne v Wolfe Tones

North Belfast based Kickham’s have a couple of wins to date and sit a couple of places ahead of their visitors Wolfe Tones with a win for the home team anticipated.

St Malachy’s v Laochra Loch Lao

Laochra Loch Lao sit just a couple of points and one place behind the table topping Aggies and they will hope to add a couple points as they cross swords with St Malachy’s who are just two points and a place behind in the ratings.
