The wet weather didn’t put off a decent crowd gathering at Kelly Park for this round 10 league game.

Despite the conditions and both sides being down a number of regular starters, it turned out to be an entertaining game with the Portglenone men in control throughout.

The home side signalled their intent early on racing into a 5 point lead, with Paddy Kelly and Ciaran McAleese pointing and full forward Aidan McAleese finding the net, 10 minutes into the contest.

Portglenone were dominating the exchanges around the middle allowing them to further add to their lead as the first half progressed with Ronan Kelly particularly impressive with four 2 pointers.

Aghagallon rallied towards the end of the half and managed to get on the scoreboard to leave the half time score Casements 1-9 Aghagallon 0-2.

The visitors made a strong start to the second half landing the first two scores of the half  before debutant Casements Keeper John McAtamney, in for the injured Kevin Mullan, pulled off a great save to keep Aghagallon at bay.

This save effectively ended the visitor’s chance of gaining a foothold in the game as the home side regained control with Ruairi Hagan, Paddy Kelly, Ronan Kelly and the McAleese brothers, Aidan and Ciaran adding to the point’s total.

This win moves Casement’s onto 15 points and up to 4th place in the table while Aghagallon can take some consolation that results elsewhere as they look over their shoulder at the chasing pack but things should improve when they get their county players back on board.
