Danske Bank Ward Cup semi-final
St Kevin’s Lisnaskea 3-17 Coláiste Feirste 2-11
An early goal from Fionnbhar McKernan at the Mid Ulster Sports Arena rattled pre-match favourites St Kevin’s Lisnaskea and Coláiste Feirste went five up in the 10th minute when Tomás Adams landed a two-pointer with the aid of the breeze.
The Fermanagh school however responded well over the last 20 minutes of the half. Louie Lunney’s goal settled them and a series of points from Daire Champman, Conor Kelly and Oisín McPhillips edged them into an interval lead of 1-7 to 1-6, five of Coláiste Feirste’s points scored by Adams.
St Kevin’s began to pull away in the early stages of the second half through points from Callum Connolly-Bannon and Matthew Mimnagh and then a well-executed goal from Conor Kelly.
Coláiste Feirste hit back with a goal from Odhran Phillips and a couple of points from Adams and Rónán Ó Scolláin. However Lunney’s second goal, following a clever assist from Charlie Rooney, eventually settled the game and set up a southwest Ulster derby final.
