TG4 All Ireland LGFA Junior Championship
Antrim 6-20 Longford 1-07 at Whitehill, Randalstown
Antrim senior ladies put on a fantastic display of attacking football on Sunday against Longford and came out victors with a massive 28 point victory over the away team…

This was Antrim’s third game in the all Ireland junior championship and following defeat to Derry last time out they knew they needs a big victory going into the game and they certainly delivered..
From the throw in Lara Dahunsi found Theresa Mellon and she raced clear and hammered the ball to the roof of the Longford net, a score that set the tone and the Antrim girls were absolutely relentless from this point on …
The fluency and the pace of this home side was causing the opposition team relentless problems and the scores kept flowing.
Maria O’Neill helped herself to a goal and Bronagh Devlin dispatched a penalty into the bottom corner of the Longford net.
Anything that Longford threw at Antrim the full back line of Emily Kearns.. Maeve Blaney and Maeve Mulholland were certainly in no mood to give anything away with all three having resounding games at the back..
Antrim went in at half time 3-9 to 0-2 to the good but had no intention of resting on their laurels and came out in the second half with exactly the same determination as the first..
from the restart Aine Lynch raised a white flag and Aiobheann Monaghan followed this with another great point…
Maria O Neill helped herself to a second half brace of goals to complete her hat-trick and Orlaith Prenter raised 3 white flags on her return to the saffron jersey.
Aoife Taggart then raised another green flag for the home team when she finished a slick move from back to front as the Saffrons went on to wrap up a one sided victory.

Team maanger Micky said after the game ..
this was a great response from our girls after our defeat last day out …
Their movement and their willingness to work hard and get a result here today was evident from the first whistle…
Their football was absolutely sublime at times and to finish with a big score and nine different scorers is so pleasing to say the least…
But these girls never shirk a challenge and we head to Kilkenny this week to continue on from today’s performance…
