Sarsfield’s v All Saints
A Fionn Jemfrey inspired Sarsfields proved much too good for All Saints in this U21B Hurling Championship quarter final, played at the Bear Pit on Wednesday night.
Sarsfields led 8-12 to 0-3 at half time as they ran rampant with a strong breeze at their backs with Fionn Jemfrey leading the way as he registered 3-4 in a one sided opening half with Barry McArdle, Ben McCaul and Darren Delander accounting for their other first half goals.
The visitors, who were short of a few regulars, were expected to do better after the break but it was the ‘Paddies’ who continued to score at will into the breeze and Jemfrey brought his total for the evening to 6-8 with Aaron Anderson, Barry McArdle and substitute Cayden Smith all finding the net for the home side.
All Saints fought hard against impossible odds with Michael Laverty getting their goal, 15 minutes into the second half and Archie McGreevey 0-2 and Sean O’Brien 0-3 accounting for their points but the Ballymena side had no answer to a Sarsfield’s side who were strong in every department.
Sarsfield’s now join St. John’s, St. Gall’s and lamh Dhearg in the semi-finals and are likely to face a much stiffer challenge but on Wednesday night’s performance they should fear no one.
