Shay and Ger back on Antrim soil

Shay McGinley from Cushendun and Ger McFadden from Glenravel were back on Antrim soil this evening as they crossed the bridge from Derry into Antrim at Toome at 7-15pm to complete the 13th leg of their Cork to Cushendun Charity run to raise funds for Children’s Cancer charities. Members of the McFadden and McGinley families were there to greet these two young men who are within two days of completing this incredible which has been incredibly challenging , both physically and mentally. Tomorrow they will complete the penultimate leg of the journey when they run from Toome to Glenravel before Sunday’s final run to Cushendun.

The following is a few lines that Shay penned for their Facebook page, listing the schemes they have undertaken before the run to raised funds

My name is Shay McGinley, and alongside my best mate Ger McFadden, we are aiming to raise as much money as possible for Children with Cancer UK.

We met in secondary school and have always dreamed of doing something that would not only push us to our limits, but also give back to the communities we come from and love so much.

As two 19-year-old university students, we understand that not everyone is in a position to donate. That’s why any support, whether it’s engaging with our socials or coming along to an event, truly means the world to us. Every bit of involvement helps and can make a real impact on a child’s life.
