Kickham’s Creggan held a Bike Maintenance & Cycling Safety event on Friday 9th June @ 7pm in the Pavillon as preparations intensify for the club’s big charity event Pedal the Pond.
People registering for the even heard top tips from cycling experts to ensure that everyone was prepared for the big event!!
Those novices preparing for the event were told that they had probably experienced some minor spills and punctures during their early preparation and it was pointed out just how vitally important it was to know how to stay safe and deal with all that the roads throws at them.
Pedal the Pond
Pedal the Pond is a fundraising event which the Kickhams GAC Creggan club have organised to help the club grow and develop the club, and as a fundraiser for local charities.
On 6th August 2017 upwards on 200 cyclists will be completing either a minor route of 50 miles or an advanced route of 90 miles around Lough Neagh. This challenging and inclusive one day cycle event will leave Kickhams GAC, Creggan on Sunday 6th August travelling around Lough Neagh using various cycle routes and returning to Creggan for a celebration in Creggan Sports Centre.
The charities set to benefit from this great event are

* Chest Heart and Stroke
* Trocaire – helping fight hunger and poverty across the world
* Aware NI – a charity that helps people deal with mental health issues such as depression
* MacMillan Cancer
