County footballers Patrick McBride, Paddy McAleer and Matthew Fitzpatrick who ran the Saffron Summer Camp at St John’s
Today was the last day of the Saffron Summer Camp, which was hosted by St.Johns and was run by three of Antrim’s senior footballers, Patrick Mc Bride and Matthew Fitzpatrick from the host club St John’s and Paddy McAleer of All Saints, Ballymena.
Over seventy children enjoyed three days of Gaelic Football coaching along with fun games and activities.
There was a wide range of clubs represented at the camp from all over Belfast and some kids even travelled from outside the city. Children that didn’t have a club enjoyed the camp so much that they have decided to take up the sport.
Over the three days it was clear to see that the young Saffrons developed their skills and learnt a lot from the experience. Not only did participation in Gaelic Football increase from this camp, but friendships were made and these kids have had the chance to develop as players and hopefully become future Saffrons themselves!
