Hurling takes centre stage

10x30_1 copyA busy weekend of football done and dusted our attention turns to the hurling championships this weekend when Loughgiel begin the defence of their Senior title against Creggan in Dunloy on Saturday evening at 5pm. which is followed at 7 by the quarter final meeting of Ballycastle and Rossa. Loughgiel is the venue for Sunday’s other senior double header as 2015 champions Ruairi Og take on St Brigid’s Cloughmills at 4-30 while Dunloy face off against St John’s at 6. 

The Intermediate Hurling games actually get going tomorrow night (Wed) at Rossa Park when Sarsfields take on St Gall’s in a rescheduled fixture with the winners going into action again on Saturday evening at 7pm against St Enda’s at Corrigan Park in the first of the semi-finals. The other semi-final sees Carey Faughs lock horns with Tír na nÓg on Sunday at Armoy at 2pm.

The Junior Hurling Championship semi-finals are also down for decisions with Gort na Mona facing Belfast rivals St Paul’s at Corrigan Park at 5pm while it is an early start for the other semi-final when Shane O’Neill’s Glenarm take on Con Magees Glenravel at Armoy on Sunday at 12.30.

The Saffron Gael will be there to cover all the action with reporters and photographers at all the matches. Last weekend’s coverage of the football championships had a great response on the site with over 8,000 hits on both Sunday and Monday.
