As Gaelic games continue at a frantic pace within the county the Saffron Gael has been busy bringing you exclusive coverage of all of these games. We were at Slemish Park on Thursday night for the U16 football Shield final between Dunloy and Rasharkin and on Saturday we were again out in force, covering Dunloy v Ballycastle in Glenariffe in the Minor Hurling Championship semi-final. On the same day we brought extensive coverage of Gort na Mona and Glenarm in the Junior Hurling Championship final in Armoy and Sarsfield’s v Carey Faughs in the Intermediate Hurling final at the same venue. The same night we travelled to Ahoghill to cover Creggan’s victory over Sean Stinson’s, a game that gave the Kickham’s the League title with a win over the home side.

Last night (Monday|) we were out in force again bring you photographs and reports on Tir na nOg’s win over St. Comgall’s in the U12 Plate final and Glenavy’s victory over Dunloy in the U12 Shield final. We also had a reporter and photographer at Woodlands in Belfast to bring you coverage of the Kennedy Centre Ladies Junior A Football final between Gort na Mona and Glenravel.

Readership of the Saffron Gael continues to grow week by week. Last weekend we had 10,000 visits to the sight and the reaction we have received from readers has been very positive and encouraging. As you may realise this coverage entails a lot of man hours and while this is firstly a labour of love by John and myself it never the less needs finance if it is to continue to grow and flourish.

Sponsorship by several businesses and donations have got us through the early and difficult days of the Saffron Gael while advertising on previews and reports have played their part in keeping the sight going. We have recently been encouraged by the generosity of a number of clubs who have approached us and made donations while thanking us for our coverage of Gaelic Games within the county and again we thank these clubs for their generosity.

This weekend presents another opportunity for you to place an advert on the sight. There is another busy programme which includes the Junior Football final between Sarsfields and Naomh Padraig Lisburn, the Intermediate Football semi-final between St. Brigid’s and All Saints, the Abbey Cup final between St. Enda’s and Glenravel, the South West U16 Football League final between Tir na nOg and Glenravel, the Minor Football semi-final between Creggan and Rossa, the Minor A Hurling final between Dunloy and Naomh Padraig and of course the Senior Hurling final between Dunloy and Cushendall.

Once again we will endeavour to bring you coverage of all these game. Would you like to place an advert on the sight to help finance this coverage. It can be an advert backing your local team or simply an advert promoting your business on this very popular forum. The cost remains at £50-00 and in nearly every case we have posted previous adverts more than once.

To advertise simply send your logo and message (where appropriate) and name and address to ptrckmclwn@yahoo.co.uk or john.mcilwaine@yahoo.co.uk or ring me on 07511111378 or John on 07885226348 for further information and good luck to all your respective teams this weekend.

Cheque presentation from All Saints Ballymena and St. Mary’s Aghagallon, just 2 of the clubs who have donated recently.
