South West Feile semi-final

All Saints 5-07 Tir na nOg 2-04

Last year’s South West Feile winners, All Saints are through to their second consecutive final folling an impressive win over Tir na nOg, Randalstown on Sunday. All Saints headed to Allen Park for what was expected to be a tight semi -final. Both teams had recorded impressive victories in the quarter- finals and with Cargin waiting in the final were keen to book their place to join them.

The game started at a great pace with the Randalstown boys testing the All Saints Defence early on. Then Archie McGreevey nipped in front of his man and was taken down for a penalty, Oisin O’Mullan made no mistake and the goal settled the Saints early nerves.

Joseph O’Rawe and McGreevey then worked well to win possession and a great move ended with Fintan Brady netting.

A third goal followed before halftime when the impressive Tyrone Mitchell found the net which meant a lead of 10 points for the Ballymena boys. With Ryan Martin and captain Ryan McCartney getting the upper hand at midfield it looked a long way back for Randalstown at this stage.

However they came out fighting at the start of the 2nd half and the All Saints backline had to be at their best, Conor Hastings and his midfield partner were getting some joy and they got their 1st goal of the day to close the gap.

However instead of panicking the Slemish Park side doubled their determination and Tyrone Mitchell at half forward struck back immediately with a goal, a good point followed by Oisin O’Mullan and a goal from McCartney more or less sealed the victory. Randalstown scrambled a late goal from a 14 yard free but again Saints responded in style breaking the length of the pitch for Mitchell to seal the win with a fine point.

A fine team display from All Saints with Ciaran McQuillan having a good game in goals with a couple of good saves and good distribution. Ryan Thom, Kevin OBoyle and Oliver O’Rawe were very tight in the full back line and Aodhan McGarry again led the way at Centre-half back with Niall Devine and Conor Corr working well on the flanks. McCartney and Martin had good games at midfield and the half forward line of Mitchell, Cal O’Brien and Joseph O’Rawe were dangerous throughout. McGreevey, Brady and Oisin O’Mullan were lively in the full-forward line.

Dara Killough, Daniel Kelly, Calum McAvoy, Conlin Neill, Lewis White and Daniel McCoy also all contributed to a fine win.

Randalstown had some very good performances as well especially the two midfielders and young Dara Martin and Shane Enright at half back battled non-stop throughout.

Both teams can be proud of their efforts.
