Cúchulainns back on home turf

O’Neill’s All County Hurling League – Division 3

Cúchulainns Hurling Club 3-19 Lamh Dhearg 0-5

By Mark Richards

A very determined Cúchulainns welcomed Lamh Dhearg to Sherry’s Field Armagh for their first home game of the Antrim Senior Hurling League in over twenty years.  The game was well contested by both sides despite a very strong breeze blowing across the field.  Lamh Dhearg playing against the breeze settled any nerves with some great early play which resulted in the first score of the game, but as the half wore on Cúchulainns started to stamp their authority on the game with Sean Muldoon leading from the back to Tony Duffy on the half forward line causing all sorts of trouble for the Lamh Dhearg defence. HT score Cuchulainns 0-12 Lamh Dhearg 0–2.

The second half saw Cuchulainns up the pace of the game by driving at the heart of the Lamh Dhearg defence from the throw-in which saw them keep the score board ticking over with an array of excellent points and goals being take. Lamh Dhearg for their part battled hard but with Sean Muldoon(captain) in fine form at full back anything Lamh Dhearg came with he was there to thwart and kept driving his team forward throughout the game, the match ended on a scoreline of Cúchulainns 3-19 Lamh Dhearg 0-05.
