Glenavy 1-8 Lámh Dhearg 5-3

Lamh Dhearg made the journey to Chapel Hill to take on the local St. Joseph’s Glenavy in the U14 football league and after a slow start came away with a fairly comfortable win. The home side opened strongly and took the game to the opposition early on. Indeed it took Lámh Dhearg a while to settle into their stride but when centre-half Tiarnach Fegan began to impose herself on the game things swung dramatically in favour of the Hannastown girls. Fegan’s strong runs from deep in defence opened the way for three quick goals to put Lámh Dhearg in control at the half way stage.

The second half saw Glenavy come out strong resulting in a string of excellent points but with sisters Isla and Amelie Annett, Lauren Smyth, Robyn Murray and Eimear Summersgill in sparkling form the Lamhs ran out winners in the end on a scoreline of 5-3 to 1-8
