Twenty teams from 4 counties gathered at De Le Salle Park on Sunday in glorious sunshine to take part in this year’s Pat Sheehan Memorial Hurling Tournament.

The teams were divided in to 4 groups where they played each other once. Group placing decided who went on to play in the knockout Plate, Shield and Cup competitions. In blazing sunshine and 22 degree heat, full credit must be given to the young hurlers who put on a fantastic display of hurling, with the eventual finalists having to play 7 matches.

In the Plate final St Gall’s overcame Brid Og and in the Shield decider Davitt’s came out on top against Glenarrife Oisins. The Cup final saw St Johns take on Cushendall. The young Johnnies put up a great fight and pushed the Ruairi Og’s all the way, but it was to be Cushendall’s day, and they won by the slightest of margins in a thrilling final.

An excellent tournament which was brilliantly organised by the St Gall’s club. 57 matches in 4 hours, with lunch provided for all the teams.
