Another full list of fixtures in the football leagues scheduled for the mid-week setting as the CCC have arranged games for Wednesday evening as the end of the first phase draws close prior to the split.
Division One (at 8.00pm)
St Enda’s v Lamh Dhearg
After a positive start to the season first division new boys St Enda’s seem to have hit a flat phase.
The Hightown residents having taken six points from their opening five games have failed to gain a point from their last three fixtures and the Glengormley men will look for a better return this time as they welcome the reigning county champions in this one.
Lamh Dhearg having lost their last couple of games on their own domain will hope for better on this away trip although championship and retention of their hard earned title may be the main focus.
St Enda’s will be striving to regain the positive but although this may be a close one the Hannahstown men are awarded the vote.
St Gall’s v St Mary’s Aghagallon
The Milltown men are leading the way in the top division ratings and having continued unbeaten thus far Sean Kelly’s men look impressive.
They continued in winning ways with an away win gained at Hannahstown last time out and will return to base as they play hosts to Aghagallon.
St Mary’s Aghagallon were halted in their tracks last time when they travelled down to Toome to meet up with Cargin and endured a heavy defeat for their troubles.
The will be hoping for imminent improvement but this trip up to the Lower Falls looks another tough assignment.
St Gall’s will start as firm favourites and anything other than a home win is hard to envisage.
St Mary’s Ahoghill v Erin’s Own Cargin
Ahoghill having endured a slow start to 2018 have gained form in recent times and last week’s win over the visiting Rossa doubled their points tally.
The St Mary’s men remain on their own sod again for this one and they will look for another positive return as Cargin visit.
The Erin’s Own men made a slow start to the earlier part of the season have come good of late and followed a win at Hannahstown with an impressive demolition of Aghagallon last week.
Damien Cassidy’s charges will look to retain that winning habit again as they take the short trip down to Clooney.
Cargin will start as firm favourites but the Toome men may not find the going easy on the Ahoghill sod.
Casement’s Portglenone v St Teresa’s
Casement’s have improved as the season has advanced and not hard pressed to record a win over the visiting Glenavy last time they will look to repeat the feat as St Teresa’s arrive at O’ Cahan Park.
St Teresa’s have struggled to make impact in the 2018 season remaining without a positive return thus far and they will be looking to turn the corner sooner rather than later if they look to take the upward route.
The Bannsider’s will start as firm favourites and although St Teresa’s are capable of improvement a home win looks the most likely result here.
St Joseph’s Glenavy v St John’s
St John’s are faring well this season although the Corrigan men continue to mix the good with the mediocre.
They did return to winning ways last time out when they gained a win at Glengormley following a reversal at Portglenone and they will travel out to Glenavy with another positive return in mind.
St Joseph’s Glenavy having returned to the top grade following a few years in exile are finding it hard to acclimatise and with just a single win gained to date they need to improve.
This may well prove a close one but although the home side will battle hard on their own Chapel Hill sod the Johnnies may sneak the verdict.
Division Two (at 8.00pm)
St Mary’s Rasharkin v St Ergnat’s Moneyglass
This all South West affair sees the high flying Moneyglass men take to road to Rasharkin intent on the retention of their joint top spot in the division.
Rasharkin are faring well this term occupying a snug enough mid-table slot in the ratings at present.
Games featuring this duo are more often than not close encounters and although this meeting may well follow such a trend the present climate would suggest an away win is likely.
All Saint’s Ballymena v St Paul’s
Ballymena based All Saint’s have struggled to make impact this season and with just a single positive return and only a couple of points earned to date they need to get the show on the road sooner rather than later.
St Paul’s have not been seen at their best as yet either with only a couple of wins to date and they will travel seeking points.
All Saint’s are capable of better as indeed are their visitors, but ground advantage may well play in this one with a win for the Ballymena men possible.
Michael Davitt’s v Gort na Mona
Gort na Mona having led the way in the ratings for a time have been knocked off that lofty perch of late and a recent home defeat at the hands of the visiting Dunloy saw them slip further behind.
Davitt’s have been in good form this term and they remain well in contention at the top having only lost a couple of games.
This looks another close one and indeed a share of the points and a draw is quite possible.
Cuchullian’s Dunloy v St James Aldergrove
This looks an intriguing affair as Cuchullian’s Dunloy play hosts to the men from Crumlin as St James’s Aldergrove visit.
The home side having struggled to make impact in the earlier part of the season really came good last time when they gained a fine 4-10 to 2-12 win up at Gort na Mona and looked good.
Aldergrove do seem on track of a quick return to the top division having endured relegation last term and with just a single loss to date they remain on course for a quick return to division 1.
This should be a good one and if the Cuchullian’s can maintain recent good form they may well continue on the winning trail
Patrick Sarsfield’s v St Brigid’s
Despite a sluggish start to the present campaign South Belfast based St Brigid’s have taken a firm hold of the baton and they are ascending the ratings.
They continued on the positive last time win a win gained over All Saint’s and will take the short trip across to the West side of the city and Sarsfield’s in search of more points.
Sarsfield’s did return to early season form last time when they proved a couple of points better than the visiting Rasharkin and still on their own sod again they will be looking for a similar return as St Brigid’s visit the ‘Bear Pit’.
This may be close but St Brigid’s are awarded the vote.
Division Three (at 7.30pm)
Con Magees Glenravel v St Patrick’s Lisburn
With just a single reversal to date Con Magees Glenravel continue to lead the way in this division and they do look firmly on the track of promotion.
Lisburn based St Patrick’s have been performing well this term and only a couple of points in arrears of their hosts they will travel intent on bridging that gap.
They will have to work for it but a home win and another couple of points for the Glensmen looks likely.
St Agnes v Mc Quillan’s
The Aggies have struggled to make impact this season but they may well see this as an opportunity to add to their meagre points tally as the Ballycastle based Mc Quillan’s visit.
Eire Og v St Comgall’s Antrim
Antrim based St Comgall’s are firing on all cylinders at the moment and big Jim Brazier’s charges having claimed a place in the Mc Cormick cup following a win over Casement’s in Sunday’s semi final, will travel to Belfast in confidence.
Eire Og Will provide opposition but a win for the Antrim men looks likely.
St Malachy’s v Laochra Loch Lao
The division’s new boys Laochra Loch Lao remain without a positive return to date and they will travel to meet the men from the Market’s aided by hope rather than in confidence’
The Mal’s are playing well at the moment and although their guests will come with positive intent a home win looks likely.
Patrick Pearses v Kickham’s Ardoyne
Ardoyne have slipped a little down the ratings of late but the North Belfast men are most likely capable of better.
Pearses are capable but Ardoyne will start as favourites and they may well gain the day.
