Dunloy retained their Feis na nGleann Under 16 camogie title at Slemish Park, Ballymena on Friday evening with a dominant performance against Brídíní Óga Glenaravel.

The Cúchulainn’s side was stronger in most areas of the park, with Eimhear McMullan pulling the defence together very well, Katie Laverty and the excellent Caoimhe Molloy on top in midfield and Áine Magill the pick of a forward line that had plenty of possession over the hour.

Glenravel were off colour in this outing, their first defeat of the season. Only goalie, Orla Donnelly and defenders Jaime Woulahan and Maria McKenna played anywhere near their best while their forward line was starved of possession for most of the game.20

Dunloy opened the scoring with two quick points from Aine Magill and Kyra Doherty and it took Glenravel all of nine minutes to make the score-sheet with Shauna McDonnell converting a free.

Dunloy however quickly pressed on and they had five points on the board by the time, Cassie McArthur weaved her way through for a solo goal in the 14th minute. Caitlin Cochrane added a second goal four minutes later.

That made it 2-6 to 0-1, but Brídíní Óga brought Aimee Traynor out to midfield, pushing Alisiah McPeake to the edge of the square where she grabbed two opportunistic goals inside a minute to pull her side back into the game. However Caoimhe Molloy popped over two late points to leave it 2-8 to 2-1 at the break.

It was all Dunloy for the second half however and Orla Donnelly was the busiest player on the field. Cassie McArthur beat her though in the 45th minute to make it 3-11 to 2-1 and she added the fourth goal in the 55th minute, with sub Jessica Blaney also hitting the net near the end. However the top scores of the second half came from the stick of Aine Magill, one from each wing on the end of solo runs.8
