McMullan Cup semi-final replay

Loughgiel 2-14 Ballycastle 0-13

Goals in the opening quarter by corner forward Ronan McCollum and centre forward Conor McCormick set Loughgiel up for victory in Friday evening’s McMullan Cup semi-final replay at Fr Healy Park, Loughgiel.

The two sides could not be separated when they met on Monday evening, even after extra time, and so they had to go again on Friday. The game may not have reached the heights of the drawn match earlier in the week but it was nonetheless an excellent contest with top class individual displays.37195277_1945600665460554_344165947155677184_n

The early goals gave the Shamrocks an good cushion but Ballycastle fought back well, and with Seamus McAuley and Jo Jo McToal in fine scoring form they closed to within two by half time. (Loughgiel 2-5 Ballycastle 0-9). After the break the Shamrocks really gained the upper hand and with star of the show Rian McMullan hitting seven points in that second period to bring his overall total to ten, they went on to book a place in tomorrow’s final at Feis na nGleann against Ruairi Og, Cushendall.
