U16 A CAMOGIE LEAGUE – Tues 24 July
Brídíní Óga 2-21 Ballycastle 2-10
Brídíní Óga wrapped up their league campaign undefeated with a comfortable win over visiting Ballycastle at Fr Maginn Park on Tuesday evening.
Shauna McDonnel started the scoring with the opening two points on her way to a magnificent 2-7 total, all from open play with some excellent angled points.
A number of other Glenravel players stood out for their hard work in general play, Jaime Woulahan, Maria McKenna, Niamh McKay, Naimh Donnelly, Maeve Mulholland and Orla Donnelly. Overall it was an excellent team performance capped by some great passages of play and fine scores.
Ballycastle half-forwards all carried a scoring threat, but were increasingly pulled into midfield and half-back to counter the dominance of the Brídíní Óga attack. However the likes of Enya McShane, Erin Kyle, Caitlin Hegarty, Fionnuala Kelly, Rhiana McBride and Nuala McShane all acquitted themselves well over the hour
The Under 16A league was wrapped up for the first time as a result of last week’s clash between Brídíní Óga and Cushendall, but the Glenravel girls pushed on to finish it undefeated with 19 points out of a possible 20.
The focus now switches to the championship which starts next Monday (30th) with Loughgiel visiting Glenravel and then there are games for Brídíní Óga in Ballycastle (Monday 6th) and in Dunloy (Monday 13th) with the final match in the round-robin series at home to Portglenone on Wednesday 29th August.
For Ballycastle they are involved for four Mondays in succession, starting with a visit to Portglenone on 30th July, followed by the home game with Brídíní Óga, then the short trip to Loughgiel and finishing on the 20th August with a home match against Dunloy.
