For the second time in a week these sides met with All Saints completing a double over their neighbours from Glenravel. Sunday’s meeting at Fr. Maginn Park in the Laverty Cup semi-final saw the young Con Magee’s stage a second half come-back before losing by five points but they never looked like repeating that performance when they visited Slemish Park in the league last night.

Indeed the Glen’s men were only able to field with 14 players so they faced an uphill battle from the start against an All Saints side who sit top of the league despite a few less than impressive performances to date.

The Ballymena side were in control right from the start with their defence determined not to concede the amount of goals that has plagued some of their performances this term and they certainly succeeded in this department.

As their team slowly returns to a full panel we were treated to a glimpse of just how good this side can be and the scores came thick and fast. An under strength Con Magee’s battled hard but had no answer to a free scoring home side who found their scoring touch from early in the game.

Conor O’Rawe top scored for All Saints with 1-3 while centre-half, Cory Lyttle contributed 1-2 from defence. His half back colleague, Matthew Downey got forward for a goal and full-back Matthew Corr got their other goal.

A pleasing aspect for the All Saints management will be the fact that their scores came from all departments of the field with both mid-fielders, five forwards and two of their subs getting on the score-sheet.

All Saints face a stiffer test next week when they have early pace setters, St. Gall’s as visitors. The Milltown side suffered their first defeat of the season when Tir na nOg went to Milltown last night and recorded a good win but the home side were missing a number of key players and will be keen to get back on the winning trail when they visit league leaders, All Saints.
