U21 Football Championship phase 1
On a weekend when only a handful of the scheduled U21 fixtures went ahead, one that did involved St. Joseph’s Glenavy and Kickham’s Creggan with the Staffordstown Road side travelling to Chapel Hill and serving notice that they could be one of the sides in the hunt at competition end.
Kickham’s Creggan put the frustration of dropping a point on day one of this year’s U21 football championship behind them when they travelled to Chapel Hill on Saturday and ran rampant against St. Joseph’s Glenavy.
In a very one sided contest, the game was as good as over at half time with all the Kickham’s attack scoring at will. With Jamie and Kealan McCann controlling midfield and Conor Small, Liam Quinn and Tiernan McAteer proving almost unmarkable in attack there was no stopping them. The second half continued where the first half finished with Dominic McAteer and Morgan Nelson taking over the starring roles. The Kickham’s defence lead by Liam McCann, Mark Mulholland and Donal Carey kept Glenavy at bay but in fairness to the hosts they kept going to the end led by Alex Gallagher but to no avail.
Kickham’s Creggan: Tom Johnston, Ciaran Rice, Liam McCann, Jake McAteer, John McAuley, Donal Carey, Mark Mulholland, Jamie McCann, Kealan McCann, Niall McAuley, Tiernan McAteer, Eunan McAteer, Liam Quinn, Conor Small, Dominic McAteer.
