All Saints GAC held a very successful Spinathon at the Broadway Harmony Hub (bandstand) and the event was a resounding success
With the All Saints GAC Saints & Slimmers 6 week Health & Well Being initiative at the half way stage the focus switched to the charitable element of the programme. This year the club has selected the Macmillan Unit at Antrim Hospital as their chosen charitable partner…. and here’s why:
Just last Summer fellow club juvenile coach and dear friend of everyone associated with All Saints, Orlaith O’Kane, sadly passed away. Having fought her illness with great courage and tremendous dignity Orlaith’s brave battle came to an end last August. Orlaith coached juvenile Camogie at All Saints for many years and was a devoted and much loved mentor and friend to her coaching colleagues and players alike. Her husband Micky is the club’s current Juvenile Chairman and her two girls, Anna & Meabh, play both Camogie and girls football for the club’s juvenile teams.
The Spinathon event provided everyone with an opportunity to both honour Orlaith’s memory and to raise vital funds for the Macmillan Unit. During Orlaith’s illness the care she received while staying in the Unit and the support provided for her family by the staff was something they valued greatly. It is for that reason that Orlaith’s husband Micky and her two girls have nominated Macmillan as the beneficiaries of All Saints GAC charitable collections during Saints & Slimmers 2019.
All Saints who like to thank all those who participated in the Spinathon, those who collected at the various collection points throughout the town and especially those who donated to the appeal
