
Antrim chairman, Ciaran McCavana preasents the SFC Cup to Cargin captain Michael McCann
Erin’s own GAC, Cargin celebrated their Senior Football Championship success in the Elk on Saturday night. A large crowd attended the presentation evening with special guests, Michael Hasson, outgoing Ulster President and Ciaran McCavana, Antrim County Chairman in attendance.
The highlight of the evening was the presentation of the SFC trophy, the Cargin’s club third success in four year’s and Tomas McCann’s never to be forgotten goal against St. Gall’s, which went viral on social media received the biggest cheer of the night when shown on the big screen power point presentation.
The club’s Camogie team were there in numbers and made their own presentations to their individual award winners while the progress of the new state of the art clubrooms was also highlighted on the power point presentation.
The final draw for the present phase of that development was made with Mrs Pat McCorley winning the first prize of £5,000 and an appeal made for new members to get involved in the second phase of that very impressive development.
Dermot McPeake and Barry O’Donnell received the joint club person of the year award while the ‘Special One’, Patsy McCann received a special award of a framed photograph from club stalwart, Tony Scullion.
