Today sees the start of a new hurling season with games in all four divisions. At the Saffron Gael we will be trying to give the best coverage possible but we simply don’t have the personel to go around. Could I ask every club playing in the leagues to get someone to do a report on their game or if they are not able to do a report just take notes of the scorers and times of the scores OF BOTH TEAMS. I appreciate that the person doing the report will not always know the names of the opposition but if you take a note of their number and ask the referee at half time he will let you take a photo of the teamsheets with your phone.

If you are technically minded there are apps for your phone on which you can record it all on. The one I used was GAA Scores and Stats Plus which holds a wealth of information. If you are ham-fisted like me it takes a lot of time to key in the team names but young people seem to manage it in a flash so get one of them to do it. They might well be young people in the club who have ambitions to get into journalism, this might well be an opportunity to get a feel for it all.
