Gaelfast Antrim Poc Fada
St Paul’s completed an Antrim Poc Fada double on a beautiful summer evening on Gowkstown Hill, Glenarm on Thursday evening when Christopher Murray won the men’s event and Aisling Reilly took the honours in the ladies. Both debutants in the annual competition, Murray saw off the challenge of Jake Hamilton from the home Shane O’Neill’s club while world handball champion Reilly finished ahead of Patricia McCarry from Geraldine’s Camogie Club Portglenone.

In the Under 16 Boys competition Aidan Scullion of Shane O’Neill’s beat Colm McKeegan of Ruairi Og Cushendall in a two shot play-off. This section had the biggest entry with Ciaran Boyd of Lamh Dhearg, Michael Walsh of St Paul’s and Ruairi Mc Cormick of Shamrocks also taking part.
Orlagh Laverty of Shamrocks Loughgiel won the battle of the Orlaghs Under 16 Girls section ahead of Orla Donnelly of Bridini Oga, Glenravel with Cassie McArthur of Dunloy Cuchullains and Orlagh Convery of Geraldines Portglenone also competing

After the action was finished Dr Paul Donnelly of Gaelfast presented the prizes back at Forsythe Park, home of Shane O’Neill’s where a welcome cup of tea was provided
The winners of Thursday evening’s event will back in Glenarm again on June 13th for the Ulster Poc Fada final which is once again being hosted by the Shane O’Neill’s club.
