The family of former Creggan and Antrim footballer Sean Maguire, who four years ago was diagnosed with lymphoma and is currently undergoning treatment , are currently taking part in a virtual Creggan to Croke Park sponsored walk to raise funds for Macmillan who did such great work during Sean’s recovery.
Last week was a particularly good week for Team Maguire, who have family members taking part in such exotic locations as the small Italian village of Bucchianico, Blackpool, Manchester, and the not quite as exotic Derry, Belfast, Louth and Kildare, plus of course Sean’s home turf in Creggan. Their original intention was to clock up enough miles which would have taken them virtually from the Creggan pitch to Croke Park, but they have already done that twenty times over.
The journey is far from over however and the intention is to keep walking through the month of March, which will hopefully benefit Macmillan financially, and leave the Maguires the fittest family in the country.
Their target is £4000 and at the time of writing the are closing in on the £3000 marker so if you feel you want to make a donation click on the link below
