St Enda’s travelled to Enright Park on Sunday and came away with the league points after a hard fought win over Gort na Móna.
The game started at a helter-skelter pace as Gorts took an early lead when Padraig McHugh grabbed a point but St Enda’s hit back with one at the other end from Conan Lyttle before Ruairi Scott gave them the lead for the first time.
Points from Odhran Eastwood and Donal Walsh stretched the St Enda’s lead but the home team responded well as Darren Boyd and Padraigh McHugh split the uprights to stay well in touch. A Darren Boyd point from a free and a great long range effort from Fionn Nagle were answered by one from Brenan Corr for the Gorts to cut the gap back to just two and both teams added a point each before the interval to leave the half-time score 0-7 to 0-5 in favour of the Glengormley men.
The Turf Lodge men made a great start to the second half when Cormac Morgan grabbed a goal to put his team 1-5 to 0-7 ahead, but St Enda’s reacted well and after Cormac Morgan pointed to bring them back on terms Conan Lyttle fired them ahead with a well taken goal. Brendan Corr pulled a point back for Gorts when he sent over a free but Cormac Scott restored the St Enda’s three point cushion.
Gort na Móna closed the gap when Patrick McCafferty and Desi McClean sent over to keep the home team very much in contention, but Naomh Eanna finished strongly with points from Conan Lyttle and Odhran Eastwood to seal the win.
