Prenter stars as Moneyglass turn on the style

Antrim LGFA Division 1

Con Magees 1-2 Moneyglass 4-20

County champions Moneyglass gave an exhibition of fast flowing football when they visited Con Magees Glenravel on Monday evening in Division 1 of the LGFA League.

The Glenravel girls had made a good start to their league campaign this season with wins over Glenavy and St Brigid’s, but what they faced on Monday evening was a class anything else they had faced. Led by their brilliant full forward Orlaith Prenter the St Ergnet’s girls were unstoppable and with a strong wind at their backs they hit three points in as many minutes, Prenter getting two of them and Beverly Graffin getting the other. That pattern continued and when corner forward Ciara O’Boyle fired a ground shot to the Glenravel net there was going to be no way back for the home side.

The visitors pushed on with two more goals before the before Glenravel opened their account with points from Molly Woulahan and Clodagh McPeake, but Moneyglass came back strongly and were 3-13 to 0-2 ahead by the time referee Stephen Higgins blew the half time whistle.

There was a glimmer of hope for the Con Magees girls early in the second half when a great move through the middle saw full forward Molly Woulahan finish it off with a well taken goal. That was to be as good as it got for the home side however as Orlaith Prenter got the fourth goal for her team as well as adding a few great points as well. Cathy Carey was also to the fore as she ran the show from midfield while Beverly Graffin was also a constant threat.

Though well beaten Glenravel gave it everything they had with Ellie Jo Butler, Kirsty Laverty, Clodagh McPeake and Molly Woulahan all giving top class performances.
