Visitors Creggan’s 2 early scores seem to upset the odds as firm favourites and league toppers, Dunloy struggled to get up and going.   Creggan’s Conor Loughran had a point after 4 minutes and a goal 3 minutes later to set the Staffordstown Road lads on their way.

Dunloy replied as Oisin McCallion scored seconds later to get the home side on the scoreboard.  From then to the short break Dunloy managed 5 goals and 4 points while Creggan only managed to raise another 2 white flags.  It was plain sailing all the way for the home side ending the game with 7 goals, 11 points to Creggan’s 1 goal, 7 points.

Referee, Michael Hardy, got the game up and going with Creggan pushing ahead with a goal and a point at the 8th minute as Dunloy struggled for possession  Oisin McCallion’s point and a goal minutes later from Daire Elliott was the signal that Dunloy would continue to rake up the scores.

Two further goals from Jay McAloran and an additional one from Daire Elliott and a rasper from Joseph Doherty well and truly finished the game by half time.  Two additional points from Jay McAloran and 2 from Anthony Hampsey gave the homeside a 5.05 lead with 30 minutes gone.  The visitor’s responded with 2 points from Conor Loughran as we entered extra time of the first half.

HALF TIME SCORE:      DUNLOY 5.05 v CREGGAN 1.03

The visitor’s first score of the second half came from Shea Devlin in the 1st minute and 4 minutes later his team mate, Conor Loughran increased his tally to 1.04 as the visitors struggled against the homeside’s pace.

To be fair to Creggan, the colour clash of jerseys resulted in them having to wear theirs inside out which didn’t help their situation.  Dunloy powered on with Jay McAloran pointing on the 30th minute and Oisin McCallion added to his tally on 40th minute.  Three further goals from Dunloy – 2 from Seamus McMullan and another from Damien Kinsella – put the contest even further out of reach.

Additional points by Seamus McMullan (2), another from Ryan McClements and a final point of the game from Jay McAloran concluded Dunloy’s scoring.  From the 38th minute Creggan could only add 2 scores to their tally – one from Cahill O’Neill and one from Ronan McGuckian though the visitors kept going to the end and never gave up.
