Antrim Hurling League – Division 4
St Brigid’s 1-13 Loch Mór Dál gCais 0-18
A fantastic display of point taking by corner forward Darragh Turley guided Loch Mór Dál gCais to victory over St Brigid’s in Wednesday evening’s Division 4 Hurling League game at Musgrave Park, Belfast.
Turley was on top form for the Lough Shore side, hitting a fantastic total of 12 points, from both frees and play, sending over 10 of his team’s 11 second half points, 9 of them in a row. St Brigid’s midfielder Fintan Cleary was also in top form for the Musgrave Park side as he accounted for 11 of this team’s total of 1-13, and certainly did not deserve to be on the losing side.
The first half was evenly contested hitting one from play, one from a sideline cut and two from frees, but McCullagh, Turley, Braniff and Rooney replied for the visitors before Matthew Jones gave them the lead. A goal from Cathal Conway put St Brigid’s back in front and with Cleary unerring from frees they pushed on to lead by 1-9 to 0-7 at the break.
Points from Jones and Turley early in the second half were answered by Cleary, but the wind now in their favour Turley began to claw his team back into the game. He his seven in a row to put his team two clear and though Cleary pointed two frees for the home side near the end, Turley grabbed two more to give his team a two point win, which keeps them in second place in the league table.
