Junior Football Championship continues tonight

Graham Contracts JFC

(Round 2) Friday 12th Aug

Football Championship time again this week-end with the second round games in all of the categories featured Friday to Sunday.

The Junior championship dominates on Friday evening as the round robin series continues.

Friday 12th August

Group 1 (all games at 7.30 pm)

Patrick Pearses v Eire Og

North Belfast based Patrick Pearses opened their championship account in positive fashion when they gained a 2-09 to 1-08 verdict over Wolfe Tones and they will start this second round game at Cliftonville as favourites with Eire Og Paying a visit.

Ground advantage may prove a factor with Pearses expected to gain the verdict and a place in the next phase.

Cardinal O’ Donnell’s v Wolfe Tones

MacRory park residents Cardinal O’ Donnell’s opened their account in the JFC championship with a fine win over Eire Og.

The West Belfast men concluded with a 2-09 to 1-08 win and they may well continue in such positivity again in this one as Wolfe Tones visit seeking a first victory.

Group Two (all games at 7.30pm)

Mc Quillan’s Ballycastle v St Malachy’s

North Antrim based Mc Quillan’s lost their opening game in Belfast to Laochra Loch Lao and they will return to home base in this one for the visit of St Malachy’s.

The Mals have been in fine form of late both in league and championship and following a hard earned win over St. Agnes in round one they will travel to the North Coast with a second victory in the championship probable.

St Agnes v Laoch Loch Lao

Laochra Loch Lao opened their championship campaign with a big win over the visiting Ballycastle and they will travel to Woodlands in the second round seeking another win.

St Agnes were perhaps unlucky when losing by a point to St. Malachy’s in round one and a repeat of that level of performance may be enough to gain them the verdict tonight.
