Saffrons have seven on the Joe McDonagh team of the year

Not surprisingly the Joe McDonagh Team of the Year is dominated by Antrim players with the 2022 winners claiming seven of the fifteen positions

There is just one line in the team that is without an Antrim, player, with the half forwards made up of Martin Kavanagh of Carlow, Chris Nolan of Carlow and Daithi Sands of Down.

There will be those in Antrim who feel there should be a few more Saffron clad players on the side, for there are a few high profile players who have not made the cut, but there can be no real complaints about those selected, as this is a strong outfit.

Daithi Sands of Down is the only other Ulster player in the line-up, after a great season in the red and black and is chosen in the left half forward position. Kerry will probably feel aggrieved with only four men making the line-up, after once again pushing the Saffrons to the pin of their collar in the final.

The players will receive their awards at a gala dinner in Croke Park on Friday night
