Cross and Passion Ballycastle are back in the final of the Danske Bank Gallagher Cup after their win over St Killian’s Garron Tower in Monday afternoon’s semi-final in Cushhendun. The holders were in control from the start and boosted by a 12th minute goal from Matthew Donnelly, went on to lead by 1-9 to 0-1 at the half way stage.

Eunan Johnston landed three points and Logan McConville two as CPC used the elements and put their opponents on the back foot. Donncha Laverty hit the only Garron Tower point of the half.

If the Tower were to get back into the game they needed a good start to the second half their hopes were dashed when Cathaoir McCaughan grabbed a second Ballycastle goal in the opening minute of the second half.

There was simply no way back from there for St Killian and CPC turned the screw to put the game well beyond their north Antrim rivals. CPC’S Damian McMahon scored a third goal on 42 minutes to seal the win, though the Tower gained a bit of consolation near the end when Christopher Leech grabbed a goal.

Cross & Passion: M Donnelly 1-1, C McCaughan 1-1, D McMahon 1-0, E Johnston 0-3, L McConville 0-3, C Christie 0-1, D Kinney 0-1

St Killian’s: C Leech 1-0, D Laverty 0-1, S McQuillan 0-1, C McNaughton 0-1
