ACFL Div.1
St. Mary’s Aghagallon 0-8 Rossa 1-12
Rossa collected their second win in five games when they travelled to Aghagallon on Wednesday night and recorded a five point win over an Aghagallon side who have been going well under the management of Peter McGrath this season.
The home side had recorded three wins from their opening three games but came up against a Rossa side strengthened by the return of county player, Dominic McEnhill and Michael Byrne and determined to get some points on the board.
McEnhill had an excellent hour for the Shaw’s Road side, kicking 0-8 and involved in nearly everything positive they produced
Rossa got off to a good start with points from Stephen Beatty and Dominic McEnhill before Gareth Magee opened St. Mary’s account and Adam Loughran fired over the equaliser as both teams tried to come to terms with the difficult conditions.

It was the visitors who were enjoying the better of the opening exchanges however as Dominic McEnhill edged them back ahead from a free and added another fine effort from play from out on the left and the same player followed with his fourth of the evening to move the Belfast side three ahead.
The home side were struggling to get their game together but Gareth Magee pointed from a free and Adam Loughran followed with another from play to close the gap to the minimum and Aghagallon seemed to be playing their way back into contention.
Rossa had other ideas however with Dominic McEnhill in irresistible form and he came back with two more and further points from Eoin McMenamin and Niall Crossan had Hugh McGettigan’s side 0-9 to 0-4 ahead at the break.
Aghagallon made a good start to the second half and Gareth Magee pointed a couple of early frees to bring them back into contention but they were struck a blow when Ruairi Grant finished a tantalising ball across goal to the net and it was a blow they never recovered from.
McEnhill followed with a pointed free to move his side seven in front with Magee replying from a free for Aghagallon and Jack Lenehan adding another from play to give the home side renewed hope but that was as close as they got.

Colm Fleming replied from a free for the visitors and man of the match, McEnhill brought his tally for the evening to 0-8 with another from play and it was as good as over.
The home side’s misery was complete when they were awarded a penalty late in the game for a foot block offence but Ruairi McCann pulled his spot kick wide of the target to complete a frustrating evening for the Lough Shore side.
