St Olcan’s Armoy seal historic win

North Antrim Cumann na mBunscol Hurling

St Olcan’s Primary School Armoy caused an upset when they won the North Antrim Hurling Cup for the first time, beating pre-tournament favourites St Joseph’s Dunloy in a great final at Ballycastle.

St Olcan’s led for most of the game, and boosted by a goal from Cillian Cassidy early in the game they held the upper hand for most of the match. However a goal from a free by Tom Richmond brought the Dunloy school right back into the game, but the Armoy boys came back with a late point to seal a 1-5 to 1-3 victory.

In the semi-finals St Olcans beat St Patrick’s & St Brigid’s Ballycastle in a really great contest, while Dunloy needed a late Pearse McMullan goal to get the better of Glenann PS in another well contested game.

In the Shield final St Patrick’s Glenariffe beat Gaelscoil a Chaistil, while in the Plate final St Patrick’s Loughgiel got the better of Seaview Integrated PS, Glenarm.
