Glenariffe-Glenravel 1-19 Sarsfields 2-09
The took a while to settle but once they got going Glenariffe-Glenravel had the edge over Sarsfields in Wednesday evening’s Under 19 A Hurling Championship quarter final at Dunsilly.
It took a strong finish to the first half to give the Glens side a two point lead, but after the change of ends they pushed on a held the upper hand for most of the second half. There was a late scare for them when Sarsfields Daniel Smyth grabbed a late goal, but two late points from Orrin O’Connor and Cormac McKeown saw them win by seven.
Sarsfields started well and two early points from corner forward Fionn Jemfrey had them ahead inside four minutes. It was eight minutes before Glenariffe-Glenravel opened their account through corner forward Calum McIlwaine, but they were soon ahead as Brogan O’Connor (2) and Donal Kearney sent over points. A great point from a narrow angle by Oisin Coleman and it took a great save from goalkeeper Phelim Ward to deny Sarsfields a goal.

Sarsfields came back with a point from Deaglan Mooney and a really well taken goal from Jemfrey to go a point ahead, but three late points from Orrin O’Connor and Daniel Kearney (2) to give Glenariffe/Glenravel a two point lead at the break. 0-10 to 1-5
Daniel Smyth cut the gap back to a single point when he hit the opening pint of the second half, but a quick goal and a point by Orrin O’Connor swung the game in their favour. Smyth pulled one backs for Sarsfields but three in a row from Brogan O’Connor (2) and brother Orrin. Two points by Enda McCartan kept Sarfields in contention two from second half substitute Cormac McKeown and one from Broagn O’Connor.
Smyth gave Sarsfields some hope with a late goal but points from an Orrin O’Connor 65 and one from play wrapped up the win for the Glenariffe side.
