Cane inspired Naomh Padraig

North Antrim Minor B Hurling final

Naomh Padraig 4.20  All Saints 0.14

Despite the scoreline the All Saints lads were well in this game for three quarters of a well contested North Antrim Minor B hurling final.

Indeed it took a brilliant goal by Carey Faughs senior player Calum Cane in the 15th minute to give the Naomh Padraig side a reasonably comfortable lead at the break. First half scores were C Cane1.5 L Magee 0.2, Donagh Laverty 0.1 and Cahir McCaughan 0.1 for Naomh h Padraig with C O’Hara 0.2, E McKendry 0.1 and J McDermott on 0.4 for the Saints.

On the resumption Watson and Magee exchanged points with Boyd and O’Hara, but again Cane was deadly when he picked up a pass and drove the ball past Paddy Martin in the Ballymena goal. O’Hara and Martin responded with All Saints points, but a third goal for the reigning champions by Donagh Laverty really killed the game as a contest with a quarter still remaining.

O’Hara and Martin with points were little consolation for a battling Ballymena side as points from Watson, and Charlie McAuley were supplemented with a goal and a point from Liam Magee and a further goal and four from the impressive Cane.
