ACFL League Fixtures/Previews Wed 19th June

After a ten day break the football league continues on Wednesday evening with games scheduled in all of the divisions 1 to 3 as the end of the competition draws near prior to the play-offs.

Another list of fixtures is scheduled for Saturday 22nd June with the final round on July 3rd.

Division One (7.15 pm)

Tir na nOg v Kickham’s Creggan

A meeting of near neighbours and parish rivals in this one as Tir na nOg welcome the men from Creggan to Whitehill for an encounter which will no doubt will attract a good attendance.

The Randalstown men are in good form in the top grade, residing in 5th position in the ratings at the moment and have impressed this term. They enjoyed a great win away to Glenravel last time out and they will seek to continue on such a positive trail here as they cross swords with their very close rivals.

Creggan are also going well at presents and underlined their current well being with a win over Casement’s last time out to secure third spot in the ratings and they will hope to add another win here.

Kickham’s will start as favourites but they will have to be at their best if they are to gain the verdict over their in form neighbours.

Erin’s Own Cargin v Casement’s Portglenone

Cargin moved to top spot with a good win over St Brigid’s last time and Ronan Devlin’s charges will play hosts to reigning league champions, Portglenone in the knowledge that a win will ensure a place in the top four play off.

That nine point victory over St Brigid’s at Musgrave was impressive and they will return to their own patch to welcome John Mc Keever’s charges seeking another positive result over the Casement’s men.

Casement’s will travel in the knowledge that anything other than an away win will hamper their chances in claiming a place in the race for the 2024 league title.

A good crowd is anticipated in anticipation of a close contest but although the visitors will travel, hoping to put last week’s defeat behind them, ground advantage could tip the balance in favour of the Erin’s Own men.

All Saint’s Ballymena v O’ Donovan Rossa

All Saints have certainly punched above their weight this season, despite being without their county players and will hope to build on recent good results when Rossa visit. The Shaw’s Road side sit in a comfortable mid-table position but will provide the Ballymena men with another stiff test which they might just pass.

St James Aldergrove v St Mary’s Aghagallon

St James Aldergrove have struggled to gain a foothold in this division and time is not a friend to the Crumlin side and with only 3 points to date they need to gain full return from this one as Aghagallon visit Crumlin.

Aghagallon have struggled themselves this season as they have been forced into action without a long list of absentees but a draw at Whitehill and a win over the visiting Casements suggests a corner has been turned.

The points at stake will be keenly sought by both the contestants in this one but the St Mary’s men will start as slight favourites and they may well collect the points

St Ergnat’s Moneyglass v Con Magees Glenravel

Both these South West based contestants need the points and will look for a full return in this one as Moneyglass, with just three points to date play hosts to Con Magees who have five at present.

Both sides have struggled to make impact thus far with the home side missing the services of a good number whilst the Glensmen have been without several of their county contingent during the season.

The points at stake are certain to be keenly contested and in a game which could go either way a draw is possible.

Lamh Dhearg v St Johns

Neither Lamh Dhearg or St Johns have underlined their undoubted potential to date in the league with the home side on 8 points while their visitors have collected two less and the points at stake are vital to both if they are to avoid a bottom 4 play-off.

Both the contestants lost out in their respective latest assignments with St John’s losing to Tir na nOg at Corrigan while Lamh Dhearg were defeated at Aghagallon and a win here is vital for both sides.

A close one with the points at stake keenly contested and ground advantage may aid the Hannahstown men to victory.

St Enda’s v St Mary’s Ahoghill

St Enda’s have been inconsistent this season and following a win over league leaders Cargin they suffered back to back defeats, and will seek a return to form here as the Clooney men visit Hightown.

St Mary’s have lost their last two games and will travel to Hightown in search of a return to form and this one could be close and could go either way.

St Brigid’s v St Gall’s

St. Brigid’s have suffered recent defeats to Cargin and All Saints at Musgrave Park and they have home advantage again as St. Gall’s visit and can’t afford to suffer further setbacks if they are to qualify for the top 4 play-offs.

St Gall’s really grabbed a firm hold of the bit last time out when the proved too good for St Enda’s, crossing the winning line with a hefty 4-21 to 0-07 victory and they will travel to Musgrave to meet St Brigid’s in a positive mode.

Having lost on their own turf last time, St Brigid’s will hope to return to winning ways and they may well edge this one.

Division Two A (7.15pm)

St Patrick’s Lisburn v St Paul’s

St Paul’s are flying high at present and victory over the visiting Glenavy last time was a good start to life in 2A and they will travel to Lisburn looking for a repeat performance.

The Lisburn men will pose questions to their Shaw’s Road based visitors but St Paul’s may provide the answers.

St Teresa’s v Michael Davitt’s

St Teresa’s have been in good form to date and lead the way in the division following the split.

They are back on their own sod in this one and will hope to avenge an earlier defeat at Davitt’s Park and a home win and a couple more points for St Teresa’s looks probable.

Division 2 B (7.15pm)

Gort na Mona v Cuchullian’s Dunloy

Cuchullian’s opened up their 2B account with a good win over Ardoyne and they will hope to continue that form when they travel to Gort na Mona.

Gort na Mona travelled to the South West last time and returned with a win at Rasharkin but this looks a more difficult one for the Enright Park  side and an away win looks possible.

Patrick Sarsfield’s v Kickham’s Ardoyne

Sarsfield’s lost to Glenavy at Chapel Hill last time and they will hope to regain the winning habit in this 2B encounter as the play hosts to struggling Kickham’s Ardoyne.

The Paddies will start this one as firm favourites and they should collect the points.

Division Three (7.15 pm)

Pearse’s v Wolfe Tones

Pearses presently sit in third place in the table and should have too much for Wolfe Tones

St Malachy’s v St Comgall’s Antrim

St Comgall’s are unbeaten this season and they look likely to add another couple of points in this one as they travel to St Malachy’s.

Eire Og v St Agnes

Little separates Eire Og and the Aggies in the ratings and the possibility of a share of the points is possible in this one.

Cardinal O’ Donnells v Laochra Loch Lao

O’Donnell’s trail Naomh Comhghall by 6 points in second place with a game in hand but face a difficult opponent in Laochra Loch Lao who are sitting 4th at present. The MacRory park side should have enough to keep in touch with the league leaders and a home win looks likely.
