ACHL Div 2
Shanè Uì Nèill 1-20, Emmets 0-20.
Only a point separated these sides twelve days earlier in the Countess of Antrim semi-final, Sunday’s encounter seemed to be a quieter affair. The travelling team got off to a flyer, and were three up inside four minutes with points from Bannon and McHugh.

The hosts then got their act together and hit six on the bounce thanks to Mcgarel, Magill, and McLoughlin, an eighty yard strike from McKay in the Dun’ defence put two between the teams, this was cancelled out immediately by McGarel from the dead ball on fifty yards. Another five in a row for the home team, Mcgarel 3, O’boyle, and Black put eight between them, then, on thirty minutes a point from a Cushendun free closed the gap to seven at 0-12, 0-5.
An early McKeegan point was cancelled by a hard fought point by Darren Hamill, then six minutes in, second half sub Conloath McNeill continued on from the weekend by striking over a superb point from a fifty yard ‘cut’, Sean O’boyle then carved through the green & black defence before splitting the uprights. A hat trick of points, Pierce Bannon 2, and Loaf McNeill, the teams then exchanged points from frees then on fifty minutes Mcgarel picked up a hard earned dirty ball, shrugged off a few heavy tackles offloaded a cute handpass to Blaine McDermott, who drove the ball to the keeper’s left for the only major of the game.

Points from McHugh and McNeil for the visitors, McGarel, McLoughlin, O’boyle, and Magill drew the game to a close as the ref Patrick Tumelty called for the ball.
Special mention should go to both keepers, Michael Abram and John Morgan who were excellent.
