All Saints continue on their winning ways

O Neill’s ACFL Division One

All Saints 0-12  Rossa 0-8

All Saints remarkable season continued on Wednesday evening at Quinn Park when they beat visitors Rossa by 0-12 to 0-8, a win that brings their points tally to 17 and keeps alive their chances of making the top four play-offs.

The early exchanges were evenly contested with Rossa twice edging in front with points from Gerard Walsh and Darren Greggo, but on each occasion the Ballymena men hit back to level through Michael McCarry and Paddy Ferris. They were level again at the end of the opening quarter as Walsh and McCarry again exchanged points, but All Saints were gaining the upper hand and they pushed on to lead by 0-8 to 0-5 at the interval, the points coming from Sean McVeigh, Martin McCarry and James Gillan.

McCarry increased the All Saints lead to four, six minutes into the second half, but Rossa came back strongly during the next fifteen minutes, and points from Diarmuid Rogan, Ruairi Murray and Colm Fleming cut the gap back to just one. The Belfast men must have fancied their chances of getting something out of the game but All Saints regained control and hit the last three points of the game through McCarry, Michael Read and Connell Lemon to wrap up the victory.
