Cushendall advance in McMullan Cup

North Antrim Under 16 Hurling – McMullan Cup

Ruairi Og Cushendall 3-17 St Enda’s 2-7

Cushendall won their way through to the next round of the McMullan up when they beat St Enda’s in opening round game at Hightown.

A goal from Charlie McNaughton in the opening minute and two points from Nicholas McNaughton got the Ruairis away to a flyer but St Enda’s were back in the game when Thomas Massey grabbed a goal on seven minutes. However Conleth McNaughton got Cushendall’s second goal a minute later and they visitors pushed on to lead by 2-8 to 1-5 at half time, free taker Shea Bell hitting three of the St Enda’s five points.

A goal by Cormac McCann six minutes into the second half closed the gap for the home team, but Cushendall came back strongly and a goal from Conleth McNaughon on 45 minutes and a series of points by Nicholas McLaughlin frees pushed the Ruairis clear of any danger and they ended up winning well in the end.
