Football Fixtures & Previews Sat 22nd June

As the first phase of the football league continues at pace another round has been scheduled for Saturday 22nd June, at  6.00pm .

Sat 22nd June

Division One (All games 6.00 pm)

St Mary’s Ahoghill v St Brigid’s

St Brigid’s have enjoyed a positive campaign to date with only a couple of defeats thus far and they remain in close attendance at the top of the table just a couple of points behind Cargin as they make a visit to Ahoghill.

St Mary’s have won their latest two assignments and they will return to their own sward following an impressive win at Hightown hoping to make it three from three as St. Brigid’s visit Clooney.

St Brigid’s will travel to Ahoghill burdened with the favourites tag but although an away win is expected, Chris Mc Glone’s men are never to be overlooked on their home patch and they may well gain the day.

St John’s v St James Aldergrove

The Johnnies have struggled in the league and at present the Corrigan men reside nearer to the bottom of the table than the top and as Aldergrove visit the Corrigan men will be striving to collect their fourth win this term.

St James, like their hosts have struggled for points in the current campaign and reside at the bottom of the table with relegation and a prompt return back to the second grade looking possible.

The destination of the points at stake is of importance to both sides and although the Johnnies seem in a poor state of health at present, they may well gain the day in this one with a home victory anticipated.

O’ Donovan Rossa v St Endas

After a smart start to the season, including a home win over the front running Cargin, St Enda’s seem to have lost their way at the present. They lost to their visitors from Clooney last time and they will hope to regain their previous form as they take the road to west Belfast and cross swords with Hugh Mc Gettigan’s Rossa.

Rossa lost to All Saints last time in Ballymena following a win over Moneyglass and they will be seeking a positive return again here as they play hosts to the Glengormley men.

Rossa need a win from this one and although Carl Mc Cabe’s charges are capable of causing upset recent form suggests a home win looks the most likely return.

St Gall’s v Erin’s Own Cargin

St Gall’s did enjoy a good start to the season but have slipped recently. The Milltown Blues still retain a prominent place in the ratings and a finishing place in the top four still looks within their gift as they welcome Cargin to Milltown.

The Toome men have only lost once to date and they will travel up to Milltown on Saturday evening seeking to retain the winning habit.

A close one does look in prospect and although St. Gall’s are certain to pose questions to their visitors the present climate would suggest an away win is possible.

Casement’s Portglenone v Tir na nOg Randalstown

Tir na nOg are flying this term and that was more than apparent last time out when they proved too good for Creggan as the recorded a 3-08 to 0-09 win over their neighbours.

That was a great result for the Whitehill men and they will hope for a similar return as they take the road to Portglenone to meet Casement’s.

Current league champions Casement’s have enjoyed a good league campaign to date but defeats at Creggan and then Toome has seen them slip down the table.

Tir na nOg will travel in a positive mode but although the feelgood factor will endure they may well struggle to get the better of the Ports.

Kickham’s Creggan v Lamh Dhearg

Lamh Dhearg have not enjoyed their best campaign to date but showed improvement last time out when they finished 1-16 to 2-08 winners over the visiting Johnnies and the Hannahstown men will hope to build on that result as they travel to Creggan.

Creggan have enjoyed a good league campaign but suffered defeat last time out when they were well beaten at Whitehill and they will hope to put that one behind them when Lamh Dhearg visit.

Ground advantage will ensure the Kickham’s men will start as favourites and although the Hannahstown side will hope to cause upset a home win does look probable.

Con Magees Glenravel v All Saint’s Ballymena

All Saint’s have enjoyed a good season thus far and such positivity was underlined again with a win over the visiting Rossa on Wednesday evening and they will travel to meet close rivals Glenravel in hope of another win.

Glenravel have started to get it together after a poor start to the season and have a good record over their Ballymena neighbours and their greater need for points may be a factor with ground advantage possibly aiding the Glensmen to victory.

St Mary’s Aghagallon v St Ergnat’s Moneyglass

St Ergnat’s Moneyglass have found the going decidedly tough this season with a depleted side and face another tough assignment in this one as they travel to meet the challenge of St Mary’s Aghagallon.

Aghagallon have taken time to pick up the pace this term but recent results, including a win over Casement’s would suggest they are returning to form.

Moneyglass will travel in hope but the odds do seem stacked against them and a home win looks probable.

Division 2A (all games 6.00 pm)

Michael Davitt’s v St Pauls

St Paul’s lost to Naomh Padraig last time out and will return to home base in this one as they welcome Davitt’s to Shaw’s Road.

Davitt’s failed to cope with league leaders St Teresa’s last Wednesday night and they may well struggle again as St Paul’s visit Davitt’s.

St Joseph’s Glenavy v St Patrick’s Lisburn

Naomh Padraig have had a great season and at present sit in second place in Division 2A as they travel to Chapel Hill to face Glenavy. The home side have been inconsistent and may find an improving Naomh Padraig a handful.

Division 2B (all games at 6.00pm)

Patrick Sarsfield’s v Gort na Mona

The Paddies enjoyed a good victory over Ardoyne last time and they will look forward to this one as Gort na Mona visit the Bear Pit.

The home side will start as firm favourites and they may well collect the points

St Mary’s Rasharkin v Cuchullian’s Dunloy

This all South West encounter sees Cuchullians, who opened their account in Division 2B, with a big win at Gort na Mona travel to Rasharkin for a meeting with St Mary’s at Dreen.

The sides drew in Dunloy earlier in the season and the home side will hope to go one better in this one but Cuchullians, last years beaten senior championship finalists may well prove too strong.

Division three (all games at 6 00pm)

St Agnes v St Malachy’s

St Malachy’s lost to league leaders St Comgall’s last time but they may well find this a less taxing assignment as they visit the Aggies.

Laochra Loch Lao v Patrick Pearses

Patrick Pearses have enjoyed a good season to date as they occupy second place in the ratings at present and the North Belfast side will start this one as slight favourites as they play hosts to a Laochra Loch Lao side who recorded a great win over O’Donnell’s last time out.

St Comgall’s Antrim v Cardinal O’ Donnell’s

St Comgall’s with maximum points to date will hope to add to that unbeaten run as they play hosts to Cardinal O’ Donnell’s at Dunsilly. O’Donnell’s, at their best could provide a stiff challenge but Naomh Comhghall should have enough in the tank to record another win.

Wolfe Tones v Eire Og

Wolfe Tones have found the going tough to date and may well struggle again as the play hosts to Eire O’Og
