Under 16c Final
St. Louis Ballymena 7-10 St. Malachy’s Castlewellan 1-6
St. Louis Ballymena proved too strong for St. Malachy’s Castlewellan in this LGFA Ulster Post Primary Ulster U16c final played at Colaiste Feirste on Thursday afternoon.
Inspired by the superb Ruby McErlain and her Moneyglass colleague, Cliodhna McKeever, The Kintullagh girls had too much power and knowhow for a St. Malachy’s side who fought hard throughout but had little answer to a well drilled Ballymena side.
The Castlewellan girls were first on the score sheet through a long range point from the impressive Kasey O’Rourke but St. Louis were quickly into their stride with points from Ruby McErlain, Caitlin Graffin and Cliodhna McKeever and when McErlain took advantage of a bad kick-out to fire to the net in the 11th minute the Kintullagh side were in control.

Kasey O’Rourke replied with a point and continued to provide the Down side’s greatest threat but St. Louis were now in command and goals from Aimee Watt and Cliodhna McKeever had them 3-4 to 0-4 ahead with 20 minutes gone.
McKeever struck with her second goal of the evening just before the half time whistle with Caitlin Kelly Ruby McErlain and Erin White weighing in with points to leave the Ballymena side 3-6 tro 0-4 ahead at the break.
Kasey O’Rourke recorded 0-3 of her side’s first half total with their other point coming from Aine Coughlan but it looked a long way back for the Co. Down side as the teams switched ends.
Substitute Niamh Bann got herself on the score sheet with a point for St. Louis on the restart and Orla Lemon followed with a goal as St. Louis continued to dominate.

McErlain added a point before O’Rourke finally breeched the Kintullagh defence for her side’s only goal of the game in the 12th minute but it only brought another response from the Ballymena side.
Ruby McErlain added 0-3 in a dominant 10 minute spell with Cliodhna McKeever completing her hat-trick before Caoimhe Ward kicked a consolation point for the Warrenpoint College to conclude the scoring.
A strong and dominant performance from St. Louis with Ruby McErlain and Cliodhna McKeever outstanding in a side who all played their part in a conclusive victory and some of their football over the hour was outstanding.
St. Malachy’s fought hard throughout and in Kasey O’Rorke had an outstanding performer but on the day the Warrenpoint side simply had no answer to a dominant Kintullagh side.
