ANOTHER APPEAL TO PRO’s

As we head into our first round of fixtures of the All County hurling leagues we again make an appeal to all PARTICIPATING CLUBS to appoint someone at their game to take notes and send us a wee report. We of course have our own reporters and photographers at some of those games but unfortunately we can’t cover every game.

If your teams playing at the weekend perhaps you could appoint someone to take notes at your game and send us a wee report or even teams and scorers with a bit of detail on the game.

Send your report to: john.mcilwaine@yahoo.co.uk or to ptrckmclwn@yahoo.co.uk.

Perhaps you are someone who attends your club games regularly but are not involved with the team. Maybe you would like to make a contribution and what better contribution than having your team’s match report featured on our website every week. We’ll even credit the report to you but we reserve the right to make alterations if we feel it is necessary. So why not give it a go. You may discover you enjoy it and what do you have to lose?

Here are a few pointers on doing a report for those attempting it for the first time:

Divide your page into two columns:

Left hand side home teams scores and times of scores.

Right hand side away teams scores and times of scores

HOME TEAM           AWAY TEAM          Starting time e.g. 3-00

Eg. 1pt R.J. 02 minutes

1pt LM 05 minutes

1GL RJ 07  minutes 1-1 to 0-1 etc.

Continue as above

Half time score

Full time score

Away team & Subs:

If you approach referee and captains at the time of toss-up before games most of them will be happy to let you photograph team sheets. This makes it easy for you to identify players when doing your report. If you don’t know the player or scorer at the time just right down his number and then refer to team sheet when putting your report together.

It doesn’t have to be long. The important thing is that your team’s game is covered.

Add a few details of major scores and build up.

Avoid criticism of referees and anything that might be deemed controversial.

And we look forward to hearing from you this weekend!
