All Saints 6-9 Glenavy 4-2

A good attacking display in the 2nd half saw All Saints earn a 2nd win in a row at a sunny Slemish Park.

An early goal from Ciaran McQuillan masked a sluggish start from the Saints boys who missed a few chances which could prove costly in a tighter game, however a lovely move saw Lewis White find the net with a cracking finish after a lovely cross field pass from Oisin O’Mullan, Tyrone Mitchell was continuing his good form from last week with surging runs from centre half forward, creating and finishing scores. However a couple of poor goals conceded at the other end meant Glenavy were back in the game.

The Saints forwards redressed the balance though and after pressing well and forcing errors more scores followed from O’Mullan and Mitchell.

The second half started well for the Saints who were now playing into the breeze, goals followed and some lovely points were taken. However the work rate of a few of the boys was what caught the eye, chasing lost causes and turning over possession on a number of occasions.

The last 10 minutes turned into a messy affair with the boys conceding a second penalty of the match which was well despatched by the Glenavy midfielder. With the Saints now Down to 14 men Another goal followed for Glenavy but Mitchell despatched to the net for the home side to settle any thoughts of a late comeback.

Next up is a home game with Aldergrove next Friday.

All Saints U12s continue improvement

Another great performance from All Saints U12 squad this evening saw them run out winners on a 3-07 to 1-02 scoreline.

They started off really well dominating possession but just not getting the scores their approach play merited. Their forwards stuck at it and kept plugging away. Led by captain Corey McKillop and backed up by Pearse Martin, Conan McKeown, Jack Dowds and Sean McDermott the scores eventually came. The home side notched up 1-04 before half time with Glenavy only score a well taken goal on the stroke of half time. Euan Anderson and Paddy Murphy marshalled the full back line very well. Connor O’Hara was superb at centre half back and was well supported by wing backs Ciaran Logan and Rory Dunne who never stopped running. Their ball movement was outstanding at times and the link up play between midfielders Harry Connon and Carter Reid came to the fore as scores became more plentiful in the 2nd half. Finn Connon, Jakub K, Antoin Martin Korey Cushenan and Orran Mayo all chipped in well up front from the bench. Zach Mitchell, Mícheàl Connolly, James Anderson and Matthew Watt kept our defence tight when coming on in 2nd half. Pearse McAuley was excellent between the sticks and rounded off the scoring with a well taken goal when he moved up front for the last few minutes.
