Naomh Comhghall as good as there

Wolf Tones 1-2 Naomh Comhghall 5-22

Naomh Comhghall have one foot in the semi-finals of the GYMCO JFC following this 32 point win over new boys Wolf Tones at UUJ on Sunday. The Antrim town side led 1-10 to 0-1 at the half way stage by which time it was as good as over but to their credit Wolf Tones kept going to the end and were rewarded with a second half goal.

Tom Patchett got Naomh Comhghall on their way with a goal in the 2nd minute and followed with a point and points from Ruairi Griffin, Joe Webb and a Watson ‘45’ had them 1-3 to 0-0 ahead by the first water break.

Despite making a number of early substitutions early on the Naomh Comhghall rhythm wasn’t disrupted and Devine, Murdock 0-3 and McCabe, Patchett, Brady and Griffith saw them 12 in front at half time.

Once again the Antrim town side took the opportunity to give more of their bench match time as the second half got under way but it was the Tones who were first off the mark with a point from their number 14 but Naomh Comhghall were soon back on the ascendancy.

Tom Patchett led the charge as he hit five points in succession and points from Michael McCabe and a Dylan Murdock goal in the t24th minute put the contest out of reach.

Patchett, Murdock and Quinn added further points before the excellent Tom Patchett got through for Naomh Comhghall’s fourth goal in the 31st minute.

The Antrim town side weren’t finished however with Paddy Quinn adding a fifth goal deep into injury time to see his side run out convincing winners and barring a miracle Adrian Dougan’s side can start preparations for a semi-final place though Laochra Loch Lao will want to test them in their final group game.

Naomh Comhghall Scorers: Tom Patchett 2-11, Dylan Murdock 2-2, Paddy Quinn 1-1, Ruairi Griffen 0-2, J Webb, A Watson, J McCabe, John Brady, Michael McCabe M Devine 0-1 each
